The last week of December 2010, we started a faith-raising adventure. We called it “Get in the Game.” We identified four major places on our property that needed improvement to help us to reach out to our friends with the love of Christ. In the last few months, we have made some incredible progress. We have finished the lobby improvements. This will allow us to accept people into our house with a warm and welcoming presence. It’s been said that you won’t get a second chance to make a first impression.

The next project that we’re starting on is the Southwest Café and Patio. Completion of this project will bring some additional benefits both spiritually and programmatically. Southwest Café and Patio will…

1. Provide a Connecting Place on our property during the weekend services where people can more easily create community.
2. Create a place to sit and talk with a new person or hurting friend after a service.
3. Give our Children’s Ministry staff an option to give to parents when they have to tell them that a classroom is full.
4. Make available a new ministry environment where groups can run programs that involve music and food. For example, student ministry gatherings, men’s morning breakfast and women’s gatherings.
5. Help with special events because we’ll have a prep kitchen that will service the Worship Center with food.
6. Accommodate larger crowds as well since the patio can be used as an overflow venue.
